About Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm)
D. Pharm or Diploma in Pharmacy is an undergraduate Diploma Course in the field of pharmacy. The Course involves preparation, dispensing and appropriate use of medication meant for therapeutic purposes. The Course provides the minimum qualification to become a Registered Pharmacist in India. Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is the regulatory body of Pharmacy education in India and only the institutes approved by the PCI can offer Diploma in Pharmacy course. There is no specialization in D.Pharm and the course provides the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science.
The course of study in Diploma in Pharmacy offered by the Colleges comprises of Part-I and Part-II. The curricula and syllabi for the course is prescribed by Department of Health, Patna, Bihar. There shall be an examination in the first year on the subjects of Part-I and an examination in the second year comprising the Part-II subjects.
The Diploma in Pharmacy Course of academic training is of 2 years duration with minimum of 180 working days per year followed by a practical training not less than 500 hours.
Eligibility As Per Pci Regulations
Minimum qualification for admission to Pharmacy Passed in 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subject with Mathematics/Biology [Zoology and Botany ] and any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examination.
